Welcome to Second Grade!

Dear families,

Welcome to Room 25! I’m looking forward to working with you and your students this coming school year.  My hope is that together, we can learn a lot and accomplish great things in second grade.

A little bit about me:

This is my second year teaching second grade at Emerson, and I absolutely love it! I’ve been at Emerson ever since I began my student teaching in 2015, and I really enjoy the sense of community among staff, students, and families.

Prior to going back to school for education, I worked for a nonprofit called Common Hope in St. Paul/Guatemala for 5 years, which focuses on family development and education in Guatemala.  During this time I worked and lived in Guatemala for a total of 2 years. Before that, I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Science, Spanish, and Music at the College of Saint Benedict in central Minnesota.

Some of my favorite things:

Traveling, celebrating cultures, salsa dancing, music, yoga, running, biking, reading, sunshine, the beach, coffee and ice cream!

This week, to get to know each other and celebrate our cultures in the classroom, your student has the opportunity to bring an artifact from home that represents their culture or a tradition.  This could be anything of significance (no matter how big or small) to your child or your family. We will be sharing the artifacts with the class as they come in to build our multicultural community!

Thank you for partnering with me on this second grade journey, and I look forward to getting to know you and your student in the months to come. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via Class Dojo or via the contact information below.

Best wishes for a great year,

Ms. Brianna (Maestra Brianna)
