Mission Statement

The Area C Parent Council is a parent group that aims to collect the voice of MPS Area C parents, to build community among Area C parents and to create a channel of communication between Area C parents, the District Parent Advisory Council and district leadership.

The purpose of Area Council Meetings is to provide parents an opportunity to meet with their respective associate superintendents, other neighorhood schools and community leaders.  All parents are welcome to come to listen, learn and have your voice heard!

4 Reasons to Get Involved and Attend an Area C Meeting

  1. We need to hear from you so that the concerns and needs of Area C Schools are heard at the district level.
  2. If we work together to build our multi-school community we can prepare a place for all parents to feel welcome and safe to express all ideas, in addition to their individual experiences in their children’s schools.
  3. We want to build participation from our ELL and free/reduced lunch families so that the parent group of DPAC (District Parent Advisory Council) reps will accurately represent all families of Area C.  To that end, we will mentor and support all levels of school involvement and encourage parents who are ready to step forward to take part in district level conversations.
  4. If you have an interest in district level policy decisions, consider joining the District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC).  DPAC members from Area C are elected at the annual meeting in October, and vacancies can be filled again at the January 22nd meeting at Armatage.  By being a DPAC member you will learn about working with district administrators, school board members and the Superintendent on policy matters that affect the entire district.  Meetings are held monthly on the second Monday from 6-8:30pm in the 3rd floor assembly room at 807 Broadway.  Childcare stipends and transportation can be provided for those who need these services in order to participate if they qualify for free/reduced lunch.
