The Spanish Immersion Learning Center is a dual language immersion program for native English and native Spanish speaking students.  In kindergarten through 2^nd grade, students receive 90% of their instruction in Spanish and 10% of their instruction in English.  This allows students to develop a strong foundation on which they build throughout the elementary years.  In 3^rd grade through 5th grade, time in English gradually begins to increase with the English/Spanish ratio culminating at 50/50 in the 5^th grade.  Reading and language arts are taught in both students' native and second languages.  All students learn to read and write in both languages.

 You will find Emerson SILC nestled in the heart of the Loring Park neighborhood just west of Nicollet Mall and east of Loring Park on the south end of downtown Minneapolis.  This location provides easy access for all our families who live throughout the city of Minneapolis.  We take advantage of our location by using all the wonderful resources that fill our downtown area and community of Loring Park.
